Kaizen is a Japanese word that translates to “change for the better”. We follow a standard methodology for kaizen events with your teams. We prepare for the event together with you before we start an event. During the week, we train your team in the tools we will use for the event, we will go observe the place of the operation (also known as “gemba” in Japanese), we will document the process and the wastes we see, we will brainstorm the improvements and implement the changes the team agrees on and measure the results to confirm the goals have been met. We have standardized modules for kaizens in standard work, quick changeover (aka SMED), value stream mapping, material replenishment systems (including kanban), problem solving (for quality issues) and equipment reliability. To become highly proficient with these tools, we recommend that an individual complete at least 5 iterations in one subject area.
